To help prepare for pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting, I offer both group and private antenatal classes. Whether you want to meet other expectant parents or prefer a more one to one individual style, I have the antenatal class that suits you. All classes will cover the same topics. The class will show you through practical demonstration and open discussion everything you’ll need to prepare for labour and birth, and to flourish once the baby arrives. Taking part in a DOT TO TOT antenatal class will prepare you and ease your fear of the unknown!
,Option A: Group Antenatal Classes
Option A is a one day comprehensive antenatal class which runs monthly in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford ,Tullow, Co Carlow, and Co.Kildare.This option is ideal for couples who enjoy a group atmosphere and wish to meet other expectant couples.
Group sizes are kept small, allowing time for questions, personal attention and a relaxed atmosphere. The group session is ideal for people who want a shared learning experience.
Option B: Individual Or Private Group Antenatal Classes
This class offers a more flexible alternative to a full-day course. I will visit you in your home on a day and at a time that suits you.
The same topics are covered. However it is delivered in a more relaxed atmosphere in the comfort of your own home.
Perhaps you, along with some friends or work colleagues, may be expecting at similar times. Why not contact me to arrange an individual or small private group antenatal class?
Option C: Refresher Antenatal Classes
As a second-time parent, you may want to discuss previous experiences. You may also like an update on research and changes in birth practices. This class is suited to parents who have previously given birth or had a caesarean section, now hoping for a vaginal delivery.
This refresher class will allow parents to prepare for the birth, and to refresh and reflect on choices in labour. As well as reviewing labour we will discuss how to prepare children for a new sibling.
All Antenatal Classes Include the Following Topics:
- Signs of labour
- When to go to the hospital
- Labour and birth
- Pain relief options
- Other delivery methods
- Induction of labour
- Dad’s role during labour
- Your changing body post delivery
- Care of your newborn e.g. safe sleeping, bathing, bottle feeding, bonding
- Getting breastfeeding off to a good start
- First aid
- Practical demonstrations
I recommend having a class between 28 and 36 weeks of pregnancy.
With each option of class, a comprehensive folder of valuable information is given.
I also provide a follow up telephone consultation. This ensures that any additional questions are answered, and concerns that may have arisen are easily and quickly resolved.
